The Formula Explained

Our layout math accounts for the geometry of your space, natural wire droop, and electrical safety standards.

Crisscross: (Width / Spacing + 1) = Length Runs. (Length / Spacing + 1) = Width Runs.

Straight Runs: (Length / Spacing + 1) = Total Runs. Each run equals the Width.

Perimeter: 2 × (Length + Width) × 1.10 (accounts for corners)

Strands Needed: (Total Linear Feet × Sag Allowance × 1.05 Connection Buffer) / Strand Length

Outlets Needed: Strands Needed / Strands per Outlet

Strands per Outlet: Floor(1440 Watts / Watts per Strand)

The electrical calculation is based on the safe 80% continuous load limit of a standard 15-amp GFCI outdoor circuit (15A × 120V × 0.80 = 1440 safe watts).
